Revitalization project
To lead revitalization of the Tallevast community.
Tallevast community vision plan 2024
The Tallevast Community Vision Plan is part of a Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) Technical Assistant Grant. Administered by the University of South Florida’s Center for Brownfields Research and Redevelopment in partnership with FOCUS, residents of the Tallevast community and other professional consultants. This report is the culmination of efforts to engage community residents in visioning a brighter future for Tallevast, while simultaneously addressing many of its challenging environmental issues. The Vision Plan is built on community engagement, research, and an assessment of physical conditions. In addition to this the plan provides concepts for immediate, interim, and long-term community enhancements, and redevelopment potentials throughout the Tallevast area. Brownfields Research and redevelopment
Working with the University of South Florida, Tallevast has received grants to work on a Brownfields application to complete the vision for revitalization and environmental testing in the community.
FOCUS, in partnership with USF's Center for Brownfields Research and Redevelopment, held multiple listening and community feedback sessions for our Brownfields-related projects. Check them out here.
Brownfields Redevelopment advisory board
Among other tasks FOCUS helps convene a Brownfields Redevelopment Advisory Board (BRAB),
which is made up of representatives from the USF Center, the grant’s Qualified Environmental
Professional (QEP), FOCUS, and other community representatives. The BRAB takes a
leadership role in decision-making on community outreach activities and on site selection of
properties to be tested under this grant.
